"This is a very special wine that is packaged in its own individual wooden box. The 2015 Alto Adige Lagrein Riserva Weingarten Klosteranger (...) is a gorgeous wine that pushes the boundaries of this native grape much further and more ambitiously than I have ever seen before. The warm and sunny conditions of this excellent vintage certainly played an important role. Starting with the wine's appearance, you are treated to a dense and impenetrable wine. The bouquet is beautifully chiseled and precise, with fine mineral notes of crushed slate or granite unlike I have ever encountered with Lagrein. Beyond those mineral notes, the wine peels back generous layers of black fruit and plum. In terms of mouthfeel, you are immediately made aware of the freshness and the thick texture of the wine with soft, yielding tannins on the close. This Riserva offers a fascinating experience for lovers of Italy's patrimony of indigenous grapes. The mouthfeel is nicely focused and compact as well. (...) this bottle should hold steady for the next decade if not more."
