About 10-ha vineyards (25 acres) lie on the slopes around the wine making town of -Eppan. Constantly well aired limestone gravel grounds, between 420 and 600 metres above sea level, set very favourable conditions for good crops. Pinot Bianco, Gewürztraminer and Vernatsch are grown above all in St. Michael, whereas the vineyards around Eppan Berg are famous as white wine areas, mainly Schulthaus. However, since a few years 6 ha (15 acres) have been destined for Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio as well as Chardonnay brands, while Blauburgunder vines are still grown.
