About 20 ha (50 acres) of Lagrein and St. Magdalener vines are grown only in Bolzano. Porphitic alluvial sediments mixed with gravelly soft soil set excellent conditions for outstanding Lagrein vines. Besides, a special mention deserve some classical vineries in Griesalong with the Lagrein crops by Stampfer, Kaiserauand its Lagrein, Moscato Rosa and Pinot Grigio and last but not least Moritzing,not far from Gries, with its Lagrein vineyards.
